Sam Talsma serves as Chief Financial Officer of Second Nature Brands, where he oversees the finance organization and plays a key role in strategic planning. He brings a disciplined, analytics-driven approach to value creation, partnering across functions to support profitable growth, accelerate cash flow, deliver transformational outcomes, and build enduring organizational capabilities.

Sam brings more than two decades of domestic and international CFO and financial leadership experience across Fortune 100 enterprises, leading private companies, and top-decile private equity sponsors. Throughout his career, he has helped create significant enterprise value through margin transformation, structural cash flow improvement, and successful liquidity events.

Prior to joining Second Nature Brands, Sam served as CFO of Astro Shapes, a Monomoy portfolio company, where he helped accelerate value creation through margin expansion and cash flow improvement, culminating in a successful exit and Mergers & Acquisitions Deal of the Year recognition. Earlier, he was CFO, Americas Outdoor, at Stanley Black & Decker following MTD Group’s multi-billion-dollar exit to Stanley. At MTD, he served as CFO of MTD Americas during a strategic planning-led value creation period that delivered 3X EBITDA expansion and more than $1 billion of incremental exit value. Prior to that he served as CFO of MTD Asia Pacific, helping drive top-line growth and more than 17 points of margin expansion. Sam began his career in domestic and international business unit leadership roles at Whirlpool after completing its CFO Leadership Program.

Sam holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a CFA charterholder, and bilingual in Mandarin.
